What kind of requests for help does the Murray Grey Foundation Receive?
Besides requests to help active serving Military or Veteran families save their homes from foreclosure, the vast majority are from those requesting relatively small amounts for emergency financial support- the most requested are support for food, clothing, transportation, payment of utilities to avoid shut-off, insurance and childcare.
What kind of requests for help does the Murray Grey Foundation Receive?
Simple- based upon the relationship we have with major oil companies, just make a tax deductable contribution of $100 or more and we will send you the certificate for $500 worth of free gas. Below is the type of request your donation will support.
My name is xxxx, my husband is currently deployed. Last month my father in law died and we had to travel out of state for his services, then the 1st of this month we moved out of state. Both of those things put us really far behind on bills. My #1 stress on all the bills right now is my plates, I am driving around with an expired tag. There are a few other bills that are over due like my phone bill which if it gets shut off we will not have any contact with my husband at all. I have used the last of the change around the house for milk and bread to feed our 2 boys. I am at a loss of what to do. I have heard there is all kinds of help out there for us but I am having a real hard time finding any help. Please is there is anything you can do to help us, even if it is to refer us to someone that can help it would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you Stressed out Army wife and mother
How do you do fundraising to help the families?
We use volunteers and have created several programs to help fundraise. Phone calling, usually by veteran' s (mostly those we have helped before) is one source, and we have other donation programs that anyone can participate in. Additionally, we were selected by a large national entertainment based not for profit that is doing celebrity based fundraising on our behalf. The need and requests we receive far exceed our current capability to satisfy them, so we are continually increasing our fundraising efforts.
Doesn’t the VA help soldiers?
Yes, VA is an excellent source of help to the soldiers; however, there are certain situations or families that the VA cannot help. At times, a family’s needs may not conform to the VA resources but they still need help!
Besides, the VA does not yet have a strong program for assisting those in danger of foreclosures. Also, typically military families are reluctant to disclose financial issues with military superiors.
Doesn't the government give the soldiers everything they need?
The US Government helps families indeed. However, there are certain gaps that need to be filled, especially when it comes to personal financial matters regarding their home. This is where The Murray Grey Foundation gets involved; particularly in providing financial assistance.
How do I receive benefits?
If your family member is in service and you need assistance, simply go to our "assistance”" page to register. If you wish, we can contact by phone immediately. Otherwise, we will send you a detailed form to ascertain your need. Within a few days following your submission of the form, we will follow-up and start gathering appropriate resources for you. It's that simple!
What is the one thing that families need the most?
Your SUPPORT! It is hard to generalize and say that there is one thing that all families need, other than your whole-hearted support and prayers. Your donations will help fulfill most of these needs. The Murray Grey Foundation will keep you posted through messages on our web site.
